Hello,
My Name is Simon
Booth but known to
every body as Sye.
I have been drawing for many years; to some I was a
drawing artist, to others I was a natural born talent.
I would say I’m gifted with a delicate eye for
shading work and now I’m known and talked about for my signature shading
styles of black and grey work.
However variety is the key to success so I work
hard on detailed colour and block colour to.
I’m digressing I’ve drawn all my life really.
I used to sit and draw anything and everything. It
was as I grew in life my drawing grew with me as I moved onto drawing to
capture emotions, quotes, using my pictures to tell a story, and then
came my first tattoo at 18.
My dad took me for it and my mom paid for it. I
remember betting with my dad that if I sat through it he had to have his
both nipples pierced, to this day he blames me for the pain I put him
through ha-ha
It was that moment a turning point happened in my
life as I could see artwork; peoples own creations from there own minds
come to life, becoming a permanent feature to a person’s body.
Inspired I spent year’s just drawing designs for
anybody and anyone who wanted a tattoo, as drawing involved into what’s
known as flash art, I started college only to spend every moment just
sitting in tattoo shops were I used to get my piercings done and just
watch them tattoo
Maybe it was at that point I wanted to tattoo but
it wasn’t for many years later, after the birth of my daughter, as I was
gifted with a shot at learning to tattoo by an amazing artist who was
tattooing my chest at that time she saw my artwork and said “you would
make an amazing tattooist” that in mind along with that fact I’ve always
wanted something to call my own something I love to do and making a
future for my daughter, I gave it a shot, and in 2008, after months of
studying about it and studying the human body. I brought my first tattoo
machine.
I used myself as the Ginny pig, tattooing my legs
day in day out I fell in love with my trade finally finding what I feel
is my calling in life
Then a very special man and close friend to me
spent the next year pushing me to the limit, forcing my artwork and
talent to grow at an accelerated rate. The man by the name of “Bone”
(Martin Waite). For a year he would call me up only to tell me “get your
guns I want this tattooed” as my blank canvas started to become covered
in my ideas, designs and artwork.
My passion grew and his encouragement pushed me on,
making me the artist I am today, but tragically he lost his life at the
age of 40, sad and destructive this was to every one I knew deep down he
wanted me to share my gift to the world. This is where the quote I live
by “Guide my creative mind, steady my hand old friend” came from.
That’s my basic story of why I’m here and how I
found my profession and this is how I will continue on till I’m no
longer here.
When I wrote this I had been tattooing for 14
months. Still learning as an artist still growing as a person, but
regardless totally professional at my chosen trade and true to my
customers family and friends
I want to take tattooing to its peak. I want to
show the world how you don’t have to know the words you want to say,
pictures work just as well.
Thank you for reading about me and hopefully one
day I will be the man who puts what’s close to you heart, on you for the
world to see.
See you soon
